Attorney at Law
Lisa Lorraine Hanna-Weis
Lisa brings far more experience and perspective than her date of admission can convey. Lisa served from 1980 to 1985 as a legal specialist and court reporter in the United States Army. She graduated from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, in 1993. Her admission to practice law in 2018 does not reflect the extraordinary life and legal experiences upon which she draws, to the great benefit of her clients.
Lisa does not hide the fact that, after graduating from law school, she was indicted and convicted of a drug offense in federal court. That conviction led to over fifteen years of incarceration in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Her legal troubles were the result of drug addiction that developed in response to the death of her only child and other traumas taking place during that period of her life. Her story of rehabilitation and recovery is an inspiration to many and earned her permission from the Indiana Supreme Court to take the bar exam and ultimately receive a law license. She is also admitted to practice in the Northern and Southern Indiana US District Courts. Lisa is committed to providing high quality legal services to her clients while never forgetting the humanity and dignity of every person no matter what mistakes they have made or legal consequences they are facing.
Lisa specializes in criminal law, but also practices in the area of personal injury, among others. She is in long-term recovery and very active in the recovery community. She serves as Drug Court Coordinator for LaGrange County.
If you or a loved one are facing a legal issue related in any way to substance use disorder, Lisa understands where you are. She will help you navigate the system and achieve your absolute best outcome.
Aside from her involvement in the recovery community, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, attending concerts, and pro motocross events across the country.
